Description Skill Order:
Hweis’ abilities are probably the most complicated in the game at first glance, but you can quickly figure them out once you’ve figured out their pattern. His basic abilities put him into a “mode” the first time he presses a button, which then determines what kind of ability the second button press spits out. These can be divided very simply into “Damage” (Q), “Other” (W) and “CC” (E). This does not mean that the abilities of the other two modes do not deal damage, but these are not the ones with which you can deal the most damage with Hwei. Furthermore, the key combinations also have similarities if you look at which keys were pressed second, but unfortunately this is not as constant as the modes. What is meant by this is that the combination (QQ) fires a projectile similar to a Hadouken, and also the combination (EQ), i.e. 2 abilities where Q is the second button. Since (WQ) again doesn’t quite fit into the scheme, it still takes a lot of practice to use the right abilities at the right time, especially because all abilities that start with the same key have the same cooldown time, so you can’t use all 3 abilities of the “Damage” mode directly one after the other and the same with the other modes. But before we go through the abilities in detail, there are of course 2 (or 3) more. His passive ability “Signature of the Visionary” (P) places a circle around enemies that you damage with 2 abilities (including the ult), which detonates after a short moment and deals further damage. The ult “Growing Despair” (R) fires a projectile that attaches itself to the first enemy hit and follows. The projectile then forms a circle around the enemy, which grows in size for a few seconds, continuously damaging and slowing all enemies in the radius. When it has reached a certain size, the circle explodes and once again deals damage to all enemies in the radius. However, the ult has another function: if you have already used one of the basic abilities and are therefore in one of the 3 modes, but then want to change, you can use the ult button to exit the mode and then select another one (or none at all for the time being). Since Hweis’ passive ability only counts any damage from an ability as the “first instance”, neither the ult nor other abilities alone can activate the additional damage of these, even if they take damage over several steps in the case of the ult, for example. Enemies who recently had the “Visionary’s Signature” (P) activated on them (even if they did not take any damage from it) cannot have it activated again for a few seconds.
And now finally to the basic abilities: (all modes are referred to below as “Motive”, which is also the name of the abilities)
“Motive: Disaster” (Q)
As already mentioned, all abilities that have Q as the first keystroke are intended to inflict as much damage as possible, but still have different situations (like every ability) when they have the greatest effect
QQ fires a fireball (or color ball?) which explodes at the first enemy or after a maximum distance and deals damage in its radius. The damage increases the more maximum health points the target has.
QW places a circle on the map at a very large distance, which explodes after a short time and deals damage. The damage increases the more health points the target is missing (i.e. strongest against enemies who are almost dead).
QE places a column on the ground which spreads forwards, slowing all enemies who enter it and dealing damage continuously.
“Motive: Balance” (W)
Abilities in this motif are difficult to describe with one term – “supportive” would probably fit best. All 3 abilities are very clear, but also very different from each other and therefore require the most attention and practice to choose the right one for each situation.
WQ creates a short flow in the chosen direction on which Hwei and all other players get additional walking speed
WW creates a circular barrier in which Hwei and all other players continuously receive an increasing shield. The shield strength is higher for Hwei than his teammates
WE increases Hwei’s damage from his next 3 abilities and/or normal attacks. Each hit on an opponent restores some mana for Hwei. Even if you deal damage to an opponent with 2 boosted normal attacks, it still counts as “the same ability” for “Visionary’s Signature” (P)
“Motive: Torment (E)
EQ fires a dark inkblot that damages the first enemy hit and puts them in “Fear” for a moment (“Fear”: CC term: similar to “Stun”, but the enemy runs away from the caster uncontrollably)
EW places a circle on the ground, which shoots a small projectile from the center in the opponent’s direction when the opponent steps on it, damaging and briefly immobilizing the opponent. Although the projectile is targeted, it can still be intercepted by other enemies and Minions if they are caught by the projectile first.
EE causes 2 claws to appear on the ground, damaging enemies, pulling them to the center and then slowing them briefly. Very handy for grouping minions so that you can hit them all with your abilities
