Champion short description:

Since her rework, Rell has increasingly asserted herself as the queen of melee supports. She’s not the easiest support, but her potential to single-handedly carve teamfights with a good Engage is unmatched in her role. If you have a good eye for that one Engage and love to realize that fantasy in-game, then Rell is the one for you.

I hope I can give you a good introduction to Rell in this guide. Have fun!

Description Skill Order:

On Rell, I recommend maximizing the W first, then the E and finally the Q by default. The W gives you more shield and more damage, so it’s generally the best ability to put points into early. You’ll want to maximize your E next, as the increased run speed will put you in a good position for engages more easily.

There are a few key interactions you should be aware of on Rell. Her Q is one of the few shieldbreaking abilities in League of Legends. Similar to Renekton’s boosted W or Blitzcrank’s ult, it destroys all shields instantly. This is very important in some matchups – so always consider which opponents might have shields and whether you use your Q directly for the stun or hold it back until the opponent activates their shield. For example, against a Nautilus, you will basically win every trade as long as you use your W, since you have a shield and he does not. Nautilus theoretically has to use his W to trade – but since you’re good Rell players, you hold back your Q and remove his shield immediately. This is exactly why this matchup is very favorable for Rell. As you can see, it’s not always easy to tell whether you’d rather stun directly with your Q or keep it ready for a shield. Barrier is also an important factor here, as this summoner is often played on the bot lane.

While using your riding form W, you can activate your ult to pull enemies towards you and land a deadly combo on multiple targets. This is exactly what makes Rell an incredibly strong Engage and Teamfight champion – especially as long as you have your Flash ready. It’s best to go into practice mode and practice Flash → W → Ult a few times to execute the combo as quickly as possible. Combined with the Q, you can CC many targets for a long time as long as you hit this powerful Engage.

There are a few more tips, but I’ll give them directly in the respective phases of the game. Especially in lane, you can still get a lot out of Rell.

Description of the build path:

Rell is a classic tank-engage support. This means that we need tank items that give life and resistances, but they also have to help our team somehow, because it’s no good if an Engage support simply survives as long as the team simply dies. Accordingly, we mainly want to access the tank support items whose effects help our teammates to survive longer.
