Champion short description:

Lucian is one of the strongest lanebullies on the bot lane and has very strong all-in potential thanks to his high burst damage. Together with an Engage Supporter, he can often dominate his opponents early in the lane and send them back to base. Due to his passive, however, he also benefits from enchanters and can therefore form a strong duolane with most support champions, making him a good pick for SoloQ. His biggest weakness is his short range, which allows opponents to poke you in lane. As Lucian, you need to play very decisively and seize the opportunities for advantageous all-ins when they present themselves. He is also a mechanically challenging champion, which requires good positioning and the ability to execute the right combos at the right time.

Description Skill Order:

Lucian’s Q -Piercing Light is your most important ability for Waveclear, which you therefore skill to level 1 in order to clear the Minionwave and reach level 2 first. Q is also maximized first, as it has the lowest cooldown and significantly increases your damage. If there is already a trade at level 1, your combo is AA-Q-AA, with the autoattack after the Q being boosted by your passive.

This always lets you fire a second shot after using an ability on the next autoattack, which deals reduced damage and triggers on-hit effects like your second passive (magic bonus damage). As Lucian, you can therefore significantly increase your damage potential if you always pack an autoattack between your abilities. What’s more, Lucian’s abilities are all capable of canceling your autoattack animation, which you can use with the right timing to perform your combos faster. It’s best to try this out in the training arena. The dummies you can summon there are perfect for practicing Lucian’s various combos. Try to give Lucian different champion levels and items when practicing the combos, as the time required to perform Lucian’s Q ability scales down from level 1 to 18 (0.4s – 0.25s). The faster you use your combos, the more damage you can deal as Lucian.

The second ability you want to choose is E – Relentless Pursuit, as it allows you to close the distance to the enemy and play a favorable trade if you reach level 2 first. The E is also your primary ability to be mobile during combat, which is why you want to maximize it second and have it available more often. It should also be noted that your E’s cooldown is also reduced every time you do an autoattack boosted by your passive. This is why you usually want to use your E first in fights, ideally dodging an enemy ability and then reducing the cooldown by alternating between your autoattacks and the other abilities.

The W – Flame Shot offers you only negligible damage, as it scales with ability power and not attack damage. However, it places a mark on each enemy hit for 6 seconds. Lucian gains additional movement speed for one second when he or an allied champion deals damage to a marked target. Lucian also gains an increase (rechargeable up to 4) to the magic on-hit damage of his second passive for each attack against a marked target by his teammates.

When landing, you can use the W to secure hard-to-reach load hits from a distance. When colliding with a unit, be it a minion, monster or champion, Lucian’s W spreads out, making it difficult to block it completely. Especially if you are alone, you can secure the cannon minion from a distance.

In battle, use Lucian’s W in conjunction with your E and Ultimate. While using E – Relentless Pursuit, you can use W – Flame Shot to save yourself the animation. You will lose a double shot, but you will also save time in which you can attack elsewhere. As Lucian, you want to deal your damage as quickly as possible. An Engage combo would then consist of: E->W(mid-dash) Passive-AA->Q->Passive-AA. With this combination, your first attack directly triggers the bonus movement speed, which will make it more difficult for your opponents to escape. For example, you can cast E->W->R from a greater distance without ever getting into range of the opponent’s autoattack, but still deal high damage over time and prevent your opponent from escaping with the bonus movement speed.

Lucian’s ultimate is his only ability with a very long range, giving you a very high damage output to burst a single enemy. You can also cancel the ultimate with an autoattack if you want to surprise the opponent with an additional burst in the form of the autoattack and your Q. You will usually use the ult at the start of a fight to reduce the life bar of a poorly positioned opponent or at the end of your combo to finish off an opponent.

Your full all-in combo for maximum damage output looks like this: AA-E-AA-Q-AA-W-AA-R-AA-Q-AA-E-AA, which you can rarely use in full. You often have to change the order of the skills you use, e.g. if you have your E on cooldown at the start of your combo because you had to dodge a skillshot beforehand. It is important that you pack autoattacks between the individual abilities and understand the purpose of the individual elements of your combo: Q for burst damage, E for repositioning, W to have additional movement speed available during your ult and to be able to hit more shots, and the ult to be able to deal damage from a higher range while your other abilities are on cooldown.

Items you can put on Lucian buy

Description of the build path:

Lucian is a classic ADC. This means we mainly need these stats: AD, Attack Speed and Crit. Later on, however, armor penetration and lifesteal will also become very important, so you need at least 4 items to fully develop your potential.
