Champion short description:

Yasuo is one of the most difficult, most popular and most hated champions in the game. So I probably don’t need to explain to you who Yasuo is and what exactly he does. This champion will always be very nostalgic in my memory because I reached Challenger for the first time in my life in Season 3, and I got all 3 wins in the Challenger promotion (which still existed back then) with Yasuo. There were only 50 slots back then! But enough nostalgia. Since Yasuo is such a unique and flexible champion that offers endless possibilities, I can’t describe every single situation, but would rather give you an understanding of the approach and the combos. This should make it easier to get started, and for those who want to invest a lot of time in it, there are the advanced combos.

Have fun with this guide!

Description Skill Order:

We start with Yasuo’s passive ability. This has two parts. Firstly, he gets twice as much critical hit chance from items, but his critical hits cause less damage. Secondly, you will always see a white bar under Yasuo’s life bar, which fills up when Yasuo moves. The more he moves, the faster it fills up. As soon as it is full, he gets a shield the next time he is hit by a champion.

Yasuo’s most important ability is his Q. Accordingly, we maximize this first. He stabs with his sword at a short range in front of him and deals physical damage. This ability can critically hit and the cooldown (cooldown time) is reduced depending on your attack speed (attack speed). The lowest cooldown you can achieve is 1.33 seconds. This becomes important again later with his advanced combos, because when you reach this cap, new combos become possible. With each hit, Yasuo collects a charge, and at 2 charges his Q changes: instead of a stab, he throws a whirlwind at a high range that throws all enemies up.

Now we come to one of the most hated abilities in the entire game: Yasuo’s W, the Windwall. Yasuo places a windwall in front of him that intercepts EVERY projectile, completely removing it from the game. This ability makes him extremely useful against champions who are dependent on their projectiles, such as AD Carries. However, it has a very high cooldown and must therefore be used carefully, as you are much more vulnerable without the Windwall.

Yasuo’s E is a dash that only has 0.5 to 0.1 seconds of cooldown. Sounds OP, doesn’t it? It’s precisely because of this ability that it’s very annoying to play against Yasuo. However, he needs a target for this dash and can only dash through the same target every few seconds. If Yasuo uses his Q during his E, the Q changes and he spins at the end of the dash instead of stabbing forward or throwing a tornado. With each E you use, you gain a stack that increases the damage of your next E. You can have a maximum of 4 stacks. While dashing, your passive ability also charges up much faster. We’ll maximize the E second.

Yasuo’s ult can ONLY be used when a target is in the air. Either from your Q or from a team member. This also includes knockbacks, such as Alistar’s W. You get an indicator for targets that you can ult. The ult keeps them in the air for up to an additional second and deals physical damage to all targets hit. After your ult, your critical hits ignore 50% of the enemy’s bonus armor. Base resistances do not count here, which is why this penetration is not really useful against AD Carries, for example. Your ult also immediately charges your passive ability to the maximum.

Description of the build path:

Just like his brother Yone, Yasuo scales very strongly with attack speed and critical hit chance. He usually has enough damage as soon as he has built his first item. Accordingly, the best Yasuo players tend to build him tankier and rarely go for maximum damage. If you build him as a glass cannon with pure damage, you will often explode as soon as you go in and won’t be able to have a good influence on the game. So don’t be too greedy!
