Champion short description:

Yasuo’s brother Yone is, just like his brother, one of the hardest champions to master in League of Legends. Even though his basics are a little easier to learn compared to his brother, you can get a lot out of this champion with a lot of experience and skill. It’s a lot of fun to play Yone and even less fun to play against a good Yone. I myself have played countless games in Grandmaster/Challenger on Yone and still don’t consider myself a good Yone player, which is why I did a lot of research on the best Yone players in the world, such as Chovy, PZ Zzang, BDD, Zeus etc., especially for this guide, to give you the most important basics.

Especially with Yone it is not enough to just read this guide, you will need many games to get a good feel for Yone and how much damage he can deal. The better you know these limits, the more successful you will be. While researching for this guide, I was amazed at how many good Yone players saw solo kills and plays in replays that I would never see.

I hope I can give you a good intro for this champion, so have fun with the guide 🙂

Description Skill Order:

I’ll start with Yone’s passive ability, which has two aspects. He gets twice as much critical hit chance from all sources, but his critical hits deal slightly less damage than a champion with normal critscaling. He also attacks alternately with his two swords, one of which deals 50% magic and 50% physical damage. The semi-magical attack is always the second one.

Yone’s most important ability is his Q, which deals physical damage in a small area in front of him and can critically hit. This ability works almost exactly like Yasuo’s, with one small exception: with this ability you can collect one charge for each hit. With two charges, this ability changes just like Yasuo’s. You will see a small storm around you and an indicator. While Yasuo only throws the storm here, Yone also throws half the distance of the storm and throws all enemies in the area upwards. The indicator shows you how high the range of the storm is. The more attack speed you have, the lower the cooldown to a cap (a limit) and the faster the animation. We maximize this ability first.

Yone’s W is the Swiss Army Knife of League of Legends abilities. It can do almost everything. This ability also gets a faster animation and a shorter cooldown the more attack speed you have. It deals half magic damage and half physical damage in a large cone. The damage is both percentage-based and dependent on the opponent’s total health, which makes the damage from this ability relevant throughout the game. You also receive a large shield when hit, which increases for each additional champion hit. Yone’s W is very easy to hit due to its short animation and large area. You always want to plan your trades around the cooldown of this ability in the early game, as you can win just about any trade with your W. However, we maximize the W last, as it offers us hardly any advantages per skill point compared to the other abilities.

Yone’s E is the ability we maximize second. Yone leaves his spirit slightly behind him for 5 seconds and dashes the same short distance forwards. During these 5 seconds, Yone gains a continuous increase in movement speed, and any damage he deals is partially stored on his opponent by a marker. Yone automatically returns to his spirit after the 5 seconds and triggers this stored damage as absolute damage. While he flies back to his spirit, he is also unstoppable and cannot be CCed. You can also activate this ability early to return to his spirit sooner and trigger the mark. However, he is forced to return after 5 seconds at the latest. With every single point, the percentage of damage stored in the mark increases and the cooldown decreases significantly.

Yone’s ult is again half magical and half physical. He marks a large area in a line in front of him, and after a short time he dashes behind the farthest champion, taking all other champions in the area with him while damaging and knocking them up. This ability allows you to win entire fights in the blink of an eye. If there is no champion in the area, you will automatically dash to the end of the area, making this ult an excellent escape ability as well.

Description of the build path:

As already established in the skill description, Yone scales extremely well with attack speed and critical hit chance. However, our first priority is to have as much attack speed as possible as quickly as possible so that Q has 1.33 seconds and W has 6 seconds of cooldown, which are also the respective limits. After that, Attackspeed loses value and we want to focus on Crit and AD. Lifesteal (life steal) is also highly recommended on Yone, as he doesn’t have mana and can stay on the map for a very long time with enough sustain. Items with additional damage procs also synergize well with Yone’s kit, as his E also stores this damage and can thus get more out of these items than most other champions.

Purely defensive options are usually only built as the 5th or 6th item.
